Islam: Then and Now

Since we are finishing up our unit on Islam, I thought it would be good to get your ideas about the growth and development of the religion as a whole. We are also about to begin our research papers, so this is a great time to get used to coming up with original ideas. This is an opportunity for you to put forth your thoughts, and then to defend them.

Here is what I want to know.......

How has the growth and development of Islam into one of the largest monotheistic religions impacted your life?

I would like you to give me specific examples and instances. If you disagree with a post, post a response (respectfully respond I might add) Be creative. Ask your parents and friends. Let me know what you come up with. I look forward to hearing what you have to say!

The growth an development of Islam into 1 of the largest monotheistic religions has impacted my life in a major way. This is because i am a Christian and Islam is where it started. If it wasnt For Them i probaly wouldnt be The Same Person i Am Today. Because The bible Tells You How You Should Live & My Family & I Try To Live Accordingly To That.

The growth of Islam hasn't directly affected my life. But if the religion continues to spread and passes Christianity in popularity I think that could easily change. Then it would affect me. All though, I do think it's interesting to learn about other religion's customs, ideas and their leaders. :) -Melissa Norris

I think that the growth of Islam has affected my life by causing more immigrants to move to America. Also they have had a long battle going on between Christianity and Islam about the popularity of their religion. Adding on to the immigrants moving here they have taken away some of our freedom by causing us to improve on the level on security in airports, train stations, and any other transportation facilities. When all the religions are combined it take away our privileges to pray where and when we (Christians) want to.

I think that the growth of Islam has effected my life. I have to agree with sam Sager. Because if all these immagrants keep coming in, then that means our security has to get stricter causing us to not be able to have all the privladges that we have now. Islam deffinatly has had an impact on my life.

Islam being monotheistic really hasn't affected my life. In fact I had no idea about it until your class. Although, I do understand that the increasing amount of immagants, is a problem. And that security is having to step it up. But the economy isn't getting any better. And to me I feel like America is becoming overcrowded. So, the question is, How do we stop it?

It hasnt impacted my life, but I enjoy the history about them. I know it must have taken forever for them to get where they are now and I knew it would have taken me longer. Their religion is different then ours, Christianity. But it is always interesting to hear other`s beliefs.

Islam has had a positive impact in my life. It almost has the same exact morals as the beliefs of Christianity. It some of the morals is to respect your parents and to be honest bout what you do in life.

It has not yet impacted my life
but it possibly could in the future as it spreads and gains more followers. I continue to believe my own religion and choose not to let it affect me. It already has impacted America because more people have converted to it.
