One of my fondest memories of high school revolves around my friends and their behavior at football and basketball games, particularly basketball games. Students from my school used to take up and entire section of the stands in the gym, paint themselves, make signs, and scream their lungs out for our team. They had cheers that everyone knew by heart, and sang as loud as they could. It was not uncommon to see 200 students at a basketball game on a Friday night, instead of out with their boyfriends or girlfriends. So...............
Here is my question. What is school spirit? Do we have any at Ashville? How does a person "get" school spirit? What can we do to improve school spirit? Do you have any school spirit? Explain.

i think school spirit is when you believe that your team can win and you try to show your team that you have confidence in them...i think since we have lost so much that we have lost most of our school spirit but i also think that if we show more school spirit that the team players would have more confidence in themselves and try harder to win.

I think school spirt is having pride in ur schools team and no matter if they win or lose you still cheer them on and make sure they are not down by the loss and always cheered but not selfishy " We are the best" cheered up.Most kids have scool sprit at ashville and only the kids that dont have pride in our school and teams dont. i think it is u come out to tha games supporting your team and lovin your school. i also believe Ashville used to be a winning team until people stopped caring. If we have more spirit we might do better on the field. people used to fill the stands on fri.nights now theres empty seats everwhere u look. if u go to a game like odenville or pell city or springville u cnt find a place to park or sit. most of the time u stand up and watch and have to park across the street.ashville needs to be more like this.

school spirit to me is like when u are all hyped up about christmas, you show how much school spirit you have by cheering on, and ashville doesnt have a really good football team, but if they were cheered on a little better and tried, they could do whatever they wanted to. I think we should do more of the things for school spirt that were listed in the paraghraph, like painting yourself and things like that. I think school spirit is how much belief you have in your school. If you don't believe that the school could actually win a game, you probably qoyldn't have any school spirit at all. Yeahh, i do believe that some of the stidents at Ashville have school spirit, but not many do. The others don't give a crap whether they win or they lose. I'm thinking I might need to dig out my old pep rally tapes from the 90's and show these kiddos what ASHVILE school spirit should be all about!! Parents, community, and students took so much pride in school athletics back then. We need to get back to that level! Agree? By the way, Coach Taylor, I think you are doing an awesome job. We do not have school spirit at Ashville, on Fridays you can go around and hear people say we are gonna loose tonite. Even though that might be true, you should still have some confidence in your team. We do loose games but everyone has to loose a few. Maybe we would win more if more people at AMS and AHS had more confidence in the team. Maybe people sit down in the stands and not walk around totally oblivious to the game. I think we can change our school spirit, for the best.

School spirit is something that a school and its students have to support their sports team. I think that Ashville has school spirit. Even though we may not win all the games, let alone win one at all, but the fans, alumni, and students keep cheering them on. Also i think that AMS has more school spirit towards not just the high school team but also our Jr. Varsity. Football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, and last but not least the national champs archery team. Our pride runs for them to do what they chose to do. Run the bases. Score a touchdown.
